Permalink In Short - Digital Marketing Hindi
The permalink is the full URL you see – and use – for any given post, page or other pieces of content on your site mostly permalink is big and tough to remember so it's important to create the permalink easy so that it can be easy for everyone to remember. I recommend you to read the article on How To Create Permalink.
Permalinks are used and mentioned in passing almost every day. The unspoken assumption presupposes a general knowledge of what permalinks are and how they are used.
When I read a book or an article, I often come across certain words over and over again until they become familiar. But somehow I never learned the meaning. Sometimes I have even acquired the wrong definition, which is not corrected until I look up the word in the dictionary. That is not the case with permalink. It is not a wrong definition, but I never looked up what it actually means and does.
Wikipedia defines permalink as a portmanteau word composed of permanent link that never changes. This avoids any link degradation. Most weblogs use permalinks as a URL that points to a particular blog entry long after it has been moved from the home page to the archive. This makes them useful for tracking and storing previous blogs.
Here is another word: portmanteau. This is a word made up of two other words. An example is blog. It is composed of web and log as in journal. A blog is an online diary.
Although other types of websites can use permalinks, they are more commonly found in weblogs. This is because in a blog with constantly new entries, an entry is only visible for a short time before it is moved from the home page to the archive.
Many visitors to weblogs want to save the URL of a particular entry that is on the first page. When they revisit the site, they may find that the article they wanted to save has been replaced by another entry. Therefore, many bloggers prominently feature permalinks so that visitors can save the long-lived URL or permalink for reference.
Weblogs use permalinks in numerous other ways. They can be used for link tracking, link trackbacks, and various feeds as they relate to specific weblog entries.
There is not one correct way to format permalink URLs. Generally, permalinks consist of a string that specifies the date and time of publication and the author. Then, when the article is renamed, edited, or archived, the permalink serves as an internal database identifier. Blogger, for example, has a feature that inserts the ID of a post into the Blogger template and creates a permalink.
While Blogger takes care of the permalinks, Wordpress weblog users can take a more active role. If you use Wordpress, you can customize your permalinks through the WordPress admin interface.
